23rd May 2018

To celebrate the Centenary of the SFWI's the Emlyn groups held an event at the Barn Hall in Bookham on 23rd May. It was a really lovely afternoon and well attended. There were many demonstrations taking place throughout the afternoon and Ashtead was well represented with jewellery making, knitting, embroidery and quilting  Many of our ladies made floral arrangements in a tea cup and saucer and we were delighted that one of our members, Wendy Bowdery, won the chairman's choice award. Well done Wendy who was not even going to take part! Just shows what you can do!

Emlyn Downs News

10th October 2018

Eight of our members attended the Emlyn Downs Autumn Meeting on the 10th October, which was a quiz evening with a fish and chip supper.

After giving us some dates for our 2019 diary, Hazel Richmond- Coggan advised that she will be stepping down from the role of Group Convenor as she and her husband are planning to move to the coast. We would like to thank Hazel for all her hard work over the years and to wish her and her husband all the very best for the future.

The quiz was run by Paul Wilde and his wife Julia and was great fun. There were eight teams, all representing WIs within the Emlyn Downs Group and we wre very pleased to come fourth. Congratulations to Bookham Butterflies who actually won. The fish and chips were lovely and coffee and tea were also provided. The evening ended with a raffle, the prizes being donated by the participating WIs.

A big thank you to everyone who was involved in organising the evening; it takes a lot of hard work and is very much appreciated.
